LEGISLATURE ANNEX BUILDING AND SITE REPURPOSING

PDI worked with PCL Construction in Edmonton to demolish the Legislature Annex Building (from the main floor and above), to repurpose the site to the satisfaction of the Province of Alberta. The scope of work included interior demolition and hazardous material removed in addition to the structural demolition of the 12-storey structure.

Due to the presence of an underground parking lot set to remain, PDI developed and engineered an extensive shoring plan to provide the necessary support for the heavy equipment machinery in order to complete the demolition.

PDI utilized a combination of high reach machines, including the biggest high reach excavator in Canada (the Kobelco SK1600) with a reach of 181 ft to complete the structure demolition. The demolition of this high-profile complex project was completed on time and in line with the requirements of the province.
