Humber River Hospital’s Keele project is a prime example of PDI’s commitment to recycling.

In 2016, PDI was awarded the prestigious World Demolition Award for innovative solutions and exceptional work on this project.

The project was designed to be completed over two phases as the tower needed to remain open to the public during demolition and reconstruction.

The Welland Canal is a crucial transportation route connecting Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.

This project was a complete demo and salvage, of 3 office/laboratory buildings located on a former P&G campus.

The goal of the demolition project was to safely remove the entire roof in one crane lift without damage

The scope of work included the installation of protective material to the foundation and anchor bolts, backfilling around the base with pea gravel.

The PDI team was contracted to demolish 28 concrete silos, 80’ in height.

The Trent Dam was a 132m long 14 slice dam on the Trent River. The dam was entirely made up of concrete.

PDI’s involvement in the “Easier Access Phase III – TTC Keele Station” included select demolition of an active TTC Station.

The Province House is one of Canada’s significant historical Confederation buildings located in Charlotte, PEI.

Demolition isn’t always about smashing buildings to the ground, sometimes, it’s about giving buildings a facelift.

PDI was contracted to complete the abatement, demolition and heritage retention system works for the YSL project.

Located in the southeastern region of Georgian Bay, Hope Island is part of a trio of islands belonging to the Chippewa Nation.

The project site was situated at the busy downtown intersection of Bathurst and Lakeshore in Toronto.

The Grosvenor building project was a complete abatement and demolition of the 10-storey building and 2 storey annex.

The YWCA facility in downtown Calgary was a complete structure demolition including abatement.

The 700 Bay Street project occupied an entire downtown Toronto city block next to a residential tower and a large regional children’s hospital.

PDI worked with PCL Construction in Edmonton to demolish the Legislature Annex Building.

The entire demolition project of both buildings was completed in a tight 17 ½ week timeframe.

The Bay and Adelaide North Tower project was an engineering and demolition challenge unlike many others.

PDI’s experienced, talented crew expertly performed the demolition of the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto.

PDI’s contract included the removal of designated substances, and the disentanglement and decommissioning of the building’s mechanical and electrical services.

PDI’s experience and expertise with rapid demolition meant we had the right manpower and appropriately sized equipment to tackle the demolition of this 30 acre site.

This project included planning and demolition of the Strathcona Lime Plant.

At Eden Valley WTP, a fire broke out that caused damage to the water treatment plant.

PDI was contracted to demolish 3 buildings. Our engineering team created a step-by-step plan to successfully demolish each of these structures safely.

Built in the 1860s, the historic Don Jail remains a landmark in Toronto, even after it has been repurposed as an administrative hub for the new Bridgepoint Health hospital.

Home to the Toronto Maple Leaf for over 60 years, Maple Leaf Gardens was the stage for 11 of their Stanley Cups, the last coming in 1967.

The 700ft Tansley Bridge was no small feat, with 3-truss girders, 4 spans at 48ft wide.

Ashcake Rd was a rapid bridge demolition project that was completed in only 4 shifts.

The PDI team faced new challenges having to battle hurricane Nicole during the removal.

One of our largest projects yet, with a total of 19 full bridge demolitions and 13 partial removals.

The Nicholas Bridge is an overpass bridge spanning 250’ over Hwy 417 in Ottawa, Ontario. We completed the removals that spanned Hwy 417 during the 17 hour full highway closure.

PDI was contracted in 2017 to remove the Morningside Bridge in 2 phases. The bridge was six spans (4 spans of 100’, and 2 spans of 85’) and averages 100’ above the ground and river below.

The structure consists of abutments at each end and 3 piers with 3 columns each. The total area of the bridge deck is approximately 2,900 m2.

Coinciding with the start of spawning season, this project was environmentally sensitive, and it was vital PDI return the river back to normal operations as quickly as possible.

The bridge construction consisted of one 290 foot by two lane bridge with concrete encased steel truss arches with a concrete deck. The second bridge was measured at 100 feet long.

The 7th Street bridge, which spans the QEW highway, one of the busiest in North America and an essential connection between the U.S. and Canada.

The Hurdman Bridge was demolished in 2 phases. The bridge was spread across 5 spans, and was 157m by 38.6m wide with a concrete girder and deck top spanning over the Rideau River in Ottawa, Ontario.

Goderich is home to the largest salt mine in the world, located 1,800 feet below Lake Huron and extends 7 square kilometres underneath the lake.

The 15 acre pulp and paper mill consisted of multiple buildings including a 150 foot tall boiler house, a 350 foot high kiln.

The PDI team successfully and safely performed the systematic abatement and demolition of Bell Creek.

PDI was responsible for the complete takedown of the eight-storey Elizabeth McMaster Building between Walton and Elm Streets.

The Providence Care Mental Health Services complex consisted of four buildings first constructed in the 1950s.

Sometimes the challenge in demolition is less the thing being demolished and more the protecting of the things that surround it.

The Edith Cavell Building was originally a nursing school in the 1970s and later transitioned to medical offices.

This project required the preservation of key historical elements from the old building and asbestos remediation.

At the Toronto Pearson Airport, the PDI team was contracted to remove the existing concrete pavement.

Select demolition was performed in a phase sequenced approach.

The project’s size and complexity required a focus on safety.
