DEMOLITION OF THE BADMINTON AND RACQUET CLUB OF TORONTO
PDI’s experienced, talented crew expertly performed the demolition of the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto. It was severely comprised by the fire that blazed in February of 2017. The surrounding buildings were all occupied by residents which presented a high-risk demolition with zero room for error. PDI spearheaded this challenge and completed the demolition with not a single safety incident or delay. The complex and daunting task of demolishing the collapsing building hinged on PDI’s fleet of specialized equipment and careful methodology, day in and day out. The success of this demolition project can be attributed to each and every crew member that took part. The close proximity of the surrounding buildings and media attention on the fire, meant all eyes on PDI during this high risk, surgical demolition.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
PDI IN ACTION
Logistics and close proximity to neighbouring buildings as well as the roadways along Avenue Road were both major challenges during this project. PDI used outriggers and netting along the north and south elevations to allow for a top-down demolition, preventing debris from falling against, or onto, adjacent structures.
